Jones for Colorado

Education

When elected, Paul Jones will fight to ensure our children in Southwestern Colorado have the same opportunities as those on the Front Range. A zip code should not determine our children’s lot or ability to attend a university , vocational, or technical school.

Southwest Coloradans value strong public education for all of our children.  My wife is an educator. Though Colorado ranks 48th in classroom spending nationally, classrooms are the “silver bullet,” where children learn and advance their dreams.

Education defines what type of society we live in and is essential to help people move into or stay in the middle class. Every child in Colorado deserves an education that will allow them to thrive in Colorado.

I graduated from CSU 30 years ago, and my eldest son is enrolled there. The cost for his education is 160% higher than what I paid, while wages measured by the federal minimum wage have only increased by 60% in that same time.  We can do more, and we must do more to ensure that every child receives the education they earn and deserve.

College affordability is out-of-reach for most families in our district. We don’t make enough to afford college, yet make too much to obtain financial aid.
